Kazakh Drama Theater named after Zh. Shanin
Academic Kazakh Drama Theater named after Zh. Shanin, situated in Shymkent, is one of the oldest theaters in Kazakhstan, established in 1934.
Named after the renowned Kazakh playwright, director, and public figure Zhumat Shanin, the theater pays homage to his legacy with a monument positioned in front of the building. In 2014, the theater underwent a significant transformation, relocating to a new, more contemporary venue. Presently, the hall boasts a capacity of 500 seats, and within the premises, there is also a museum.
Throughout its existence, the theater's ensemble has actively participated in numerous international competitions, garnering accolades and recognition. The stage of the theater has witnessed many performances, including "Karagoz" by M. Auezov, "Abu Nasr Al-Farabi" by Sh. Kusainov, "Hamlet" by W. Shakespeare, "Shyrmauyk" by R. Otarbaev, "Kyzyl Sunkarlar" by S. Seifullin, "Platon the Krechet" by A. Korneychuk, and other noteworthy productions.
