Kazhymukan Munaitpasov Stadium

Kazhymukan Munaitpasov is regarded as the most legendary athlete in Kazakhstan's history. In the early 20th century, he consistently dominated the Greco-Roman wrestling championships in the heavyweight category. Throughout his illustrious sports career, Kazhymukan competed in 28 countries, earning 56 medals. His legacy is honored through numerous sports facilities across Kazakhstan, including a stadium in Shymkent that bears his name.

Opened in 1969, the Shymkent stadium is notable for its unusual design, with stands arranged in a circular pattern rather than the more common oval shape. It has a seating capacity of 20,000 and includes tracks for running and athletics around the field.

A monument to Kazhymukan stands proudly in the square in front of the stadium’s central entrance. The Alley of Famous Athletes leads to the monument, where the names of champions from the Turkistan region are engraved on granite slabs. Surrounding the stadium are several additional sports facilities, including the Table Tennis Center, the Track and Field Sports Complex, the Central Water Sports Complex, the School of Higher Sports Mastery, and the Alaman Sports Complex.Стадион в Шымкенте
