Victory Park

Victory Park in Shymkent was established in 1945 to commemorate the victory in World War II. In the center of the park stands a star-shaped fountain and a granite stele dedicated to the memory of the fallen soldiers. As you enter, you are greeted by a monument honoring Sabyr Rakhimov, the first military leader from Central Asia. Known for his unwavering determination, Joseph Stalin dubbed him the "iron general." General Rakhimov's division fought Germans in the North Caucasus and Poland, and participated in the Lublin-Brest, East Prussian, and East Pomeranian offensives. Tragically, he was fatally wounded by a mine fragment on March 26, 1945, just two weeks before the victory.

To learn more about Shymkent soldiers who fought in World War II, visit the Erlik Museum, located within the park. Here you will see badges, photographs, letters, and personal belongings of soldiers.Парк Победы в Шымкенте
