Shymkent Zoo
The Shymkent Zoo has become a habitat for a diverse range of mammals, including Amur tigers, sika deer, ponies, lions, zebras, pumas, giraffes, baboons, chimpanzees, southern pig-tailed macaques, brown and Himalayan bears, kangaroos, and more. Among the reptiles, you'll encounter Indian pythons, spotted whip snakes, reticulated pythons, Central Asian tortoises, Central Asian cobras, and pond sliders. Amphibians are also well-represented, with notable residents such as Nile crocodiles, spectacled caimans, and Madagascar tomato frogs, which bear a striking resemblance to a certain vegetable.
One of the zoo's main attractions is the majestic snow leopard, often referred to as the king of the highlands and the symbol of Kazakhstan. Additionally, the zoo recently welcomed servals as new additions to their collection. The Przewalski's horse, an endangered species of wild horse with a history dating back to ancient times, also finds a safe haven here.
Visitors flock to the captivating African zone, adorned with original installations featuring tigers, elephants, and giraffes. The word "AFRICA" stands prominently, embellished with traditional patterns and masks of African tribes. It's nearly impossible to resist the allure of this colorful photo zone. Furthermore, the zoo boasts a fountain adorned with pedestals bearing animal sculptures and a pond.
The Shymkent Zoo's commitment to education is evident in its regular schedule of lectures, consultations, and guided excursions, providing visitors with valuable insights into the animal kingdom.
