Kali Yunus Bathhouse
The Kali Yunus Bathhouse is a 19th-century historical and architectural landmark located in Taraz. It operated until the 1950s. Erected through the contributions of Taraz residents, this bathhouse adheres to medieval construction standards. Crafted from burnt brick, a common material of its era, the bathhouse spans 25 meters (27 yd) in length, standing at a height between 2.5 to 3 meters (6.6-9.8 ft).
The bathhouse comprises 11 rooms. Ten have endured the test of time in excellent condition, while one underwent substantial damage. Following reconstruction, the eleventh room has been restored to its original appearance. The structure's natural illumination is facilitated by openings in its domes.
The bathhouse earned a place in Kazakhstan's registry of historical and architectural monuments. Today, visitors are captivated by the multi-domed marvel, appreciating its architectural finesse, plumbing ingenuity, and heating system. Although the wall paintings have faded with time, the interior is adorned with figured arches and niches, and the seating shelves remain impeccably preserved.
