Kazakhstan Welcomes Tourists with Free SIM Cards at the Airport
Foreign visitors arriving in Kazakhstan are now greeted with more than just warm hospitality. They receive a free SIM card loaded with 1 GB of data and direct access to essential travel services.
Tourists are handed the SIM card immediately after clearing passport control. The package includes 1 GB of mobile internet, valid for 24 hours. It’s enough to book a ride, navigate the city, or simply let friends and family know you’ve arrived safely.
Each SIM card comes in an envelope featuring labels in Kazakh, Russian, English, Chinese, and Uzbek. On the back, a QR code links to Safetravel.kz – a centralized website designed to support tourists throughout their stay. The website includes:
- the “102” app for instant contact with the police, including an SOS button
- a guide to migration rules and visa regulations
- an interactive city map with links to navigation tools
- a list of licensed taxi services and ride-hailing apps
- an overview of mobile providers with links to their websites
- and clear instructions for handling different emergency situations
Emergency contact numbers (ambulance, fire service, and unified rescue line) are also available on the platform.
This thoughtful gesture reflects Kazakhstan’s commitment to ensuring that every tourist feels safe, supported, and welcome from the very first moments of their journey.
