Located in the very heart of the city, Amir Timur Square is not only a favorite place for walks and meetings but also one of the most recognizable symbols of modern Tashkent.

The history of this place dates back to the late 19th century, when Tashkent became the administrative center of the Turkestan Governorate within the Russian Empire. In 1882, one of the city’s first public gardens, Konstantinovsky Square, was established here.

Throughout its history, the square has changed its appearance and name several times. During the Soviet period, it was known as Revolution Square and was one of the main public spaces in Tashkent. In 1994, a monument to Amir Timur was installed here, and the square was named after the outstanding military commander of the 14th century.

Monument to Amir Timur

The main feature of the square is the bronze monument to Amir Timur. The great commander is depicted on horseback, dressed in full military attire. His left hand firmly holds the reins, while his right hand is raised upward. This gesture gives the figure a sense of movement, strength, and confidence.

The famous words of Amir Temur, “Strength lies in justice,” are inscribed on the pedestal.

The area around the monument is designed with wide pathways, trees, and green lawns. The layout of the square has a radial structure, with roads and walkways extending outward from the central point.

Architectural Surroundings

Amir Timur Square is surrounded by several important buildings. On one side stands the Museum of the History of the Timurids, dedicated to the legacy of T-mur and his descendants.

Nearby are the famous Hotel Uzbekistan, the building of Tashkent State University of Law, and the International Forums Palace, which has become one of the modern architectural symbols of the capital.

Today, Amir Timur Square is one of the favorite places for residents of Tashkent and visitors to the city. Families often come here for walks, friends meet here, and the square hosts public events and official ceremonies.
