Alma-Arasan Gorge

Alma-Arasan, located on the northern spur of Ile Alatau Mountains at an altitude of 1780 m (5840 ft), is among the most picturesque gorges near Almaty. It is also referred to as Prohodnoye Gorge, owing to the presence of the Prohodnaya River. The flora in the area is diverse, featuring spruces, shrubs, and fragrant herbs.

Alma-Arasan boasts a stunning location with steep mountain slopes, covered in centuries-old fir trees on one side and a lively river stream on the other. It has a recreational area featuring wooden hot and cold thermal water pools. The place is open all year round, and after its reconstruction, it became more convenient, with comfortable stairs, bridges, gazebos, and benches, along with special changing rooms, a toilet, and a workout zone. Additionally, a small and charming waterfall known as «Girl's Tears» is just a 5-minute walk from this place, and the location is particularly enchanting in winter when the bluish water contrasts with the white snow cover and greenery of the trees.

Alma-Arasan is an ideal destination for hiking, summer vacations with a picnic, a wellness program, and experiencing the stunning mountain scenery.
