Burkhan-Bulak Waterfall

Nestled in the Dzungarian Alatau Mountains, Burkhan-Bulak, the highest waterfall in Kazakhstan, tumbles down from a height of 168 meters (551 ft). The waterfall is located in the picturesque Kora Gorge, where the river of the same name flows. Although only three out of the four cascades are visible from the ground level, adventurous visitors can climb to the top of the cliff to witness the stunning beauty of the roaring water. At an elevation of 2000 meters (6562 ft) above sea level, the waterfall creates a cloud of spray as it hits a massive rocky ledge at the bottom.

Even on the hottest day, the area around the waterfall is cool and refreshing due to the high humidity and comfortable temperature. The aroma of fir trees and Asian juniper trees growing in the vicinity adds to the therapeutic atmosphere of the place, making it a popular spot for phytotherapy.

To experience the full majesty of the waterfall, the best time to visit is during the summer months of June and July when the melting of glaciers in the Dzungarian Alatau is at its peak. A small area close to Burkhan-Bulak provides a comfortable resting spot for visitors to enjoy the scenic views. It's recommended to travel to the location in an SUV for a smoother journey.
