Next, we'll make a stop to visit the Khazret Sultan Mosque. Standing near Independence Square, this grandiose snow-white mosque catches an eye with its elegant and airy architecture.
The Khazret Sultan Mosque, one of Central Asia's largest mosques, was opened in July 2012. Constructed in the classical Islamic style, the mosque incorporates traditional Kazakh ornaments. Resembling an eastern palace, this colossal structure involved over 1,500 builders and craftsmen, collectively contributing to the creation of one of Astana's most stunning architectural monuments. The mosque has the capacity to accommodate up to 10 thousand people.
Moving on, our next stop is another iconic landmark in Astana – the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation, a creation by the renowned architect Norman Foster.
Designed by the British architect Sir Norman Foster, the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation takes the shape of a pyramid. It was built to host the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. Serving as a hub for religious studies and tolerance, this palace is equipped with modern conference halls, exhibition areas, art galleries, presentation complexes, and more. Additionally, it features a 1300-seat opera hall, opened with a performance by Monserrat Caballé.
Following the exploration of the right bank, we will head to the Esil River Embankment for a delightful 40-minute boat ride. Afterward, we will make our way back to your hotel.
The Esil River Embankment holds a special place for Astana residents and visitors alike, offering a tranquil river flow, scenic city panoramas, and a vibrant atmosphere with street musicians and artists. During the summer, enjoy an entertaining boat tour, while winter invites you to have fun on the ice rink, marveling at the capital's skyline. As night falls, the view becomes enchanting – city lights reflecting in the dark waters, occasional fireworks, and even laser shows.
